My second review for this site, and the second coat I ever ordered (the first being LCJ7-WINE, which is still a favourite, to point.)
One thing to mention before I get to the meaty bits of breaking down this hoodie I think it important to make comment on shipping. Express, specifically. Different from my first experience, where I opted for standard because it /is/ slightly cheaper, I swung for Express because, well, I really wanted my jacket, right. And wow, "express" is by no means hyperbole. I got my coats within days of ordering. I was kind of blown away by how quick it was, honestly, considering the distance it was to travel. So good on crazy fast shipping, that. It was absolutely worth it.
Now, the hoodie. It isn't subtle. It's immediately striking, which is why I was so quick to nab it when it first showed up in stock here. The contrasting colours really pack a punch in-hand. The orange accents aren't muted or pale at all, which is sometimes a problem with fabrics and plastics in colours like neon freakin' orange, especially in clothing. The black is pitch and the orange is pretty much high-vis, which was exactly what I wanted. It's definitely a standout on the street and has netted me a few inquiries as to its source and innumerable compliments from total strangers.
From colour combination to the cut it's just plain sharp. It looks just as good completely unzipped as it does done up to the throat, so it's very versatile, weather-wise. Being able to wear it open comfortably means it's a good light-weather jacket, and the double zipper and high collar mean it works well in the wicked cold, too. The cuffs are nice and soft and handily stretchy, still comfortable when pushed up to the elbows. They don't dig in or fit too tight or become itchy after time. The collar is the same, not scratchy at all even when it's zipped up to the chin. However if you try zipping both layers all the way up you might look a bit like a turtle and the outermost zipper will take the opportunity to poke you in the chin. So.
I'm always pleased by how thick the hoods on these jackets are, all of them double lined. They keep their shape very well and don't sag or relax too much, even after a few washings. Hood's deep a well, good for keeping out rain and sun alike, and the pockets are deep enough for a cell phone or small wallet. Better for keeping your hands warm.
The central zipper does have a that common bit of bulge when worn while seated, but not too bad and it flattens out well. Everything lays perfectly flat and fitted when standing, either with one, both, or a combination of zippers done up.
Now, I've had this jacket for a few months so I should like to address durability. This hoodie's been worn quite often, in snow and rain alike. It's been washed, dried, and on a few unlucky occasions, slept on by a cat. Despite regular wear it has, to this day, not begun to show any damage or degradation of colour. None of the hardware, from the zipper to the buttons, has lost any of its pigment, and the orange of the collar and trim is just as vibrant as when I first received it in the mail. It's extremely sturdy to boot, but I've come to expect a sort of lasting quality from the products of TheLees. As ever the material is nice and thick, all the seams hold up, and all the colour is fast. The stretchy material of the collar, cuffs and waist haven't loosened noticeably, and even the orange doesn't stain easily. I wouldn't say I'm gentle with my hoodies, so I don't expect anything to fade or chip any time soon if it hasn't already.
The quality of these products has made me not only a repeat customer, but also a brand-loyal one. I near refuse to buy hoodies anywhere else after the fantastic experiences I've had here thus far, and this jacket is no exception.
In short, this is a great jacket. It's attractive, looks cool, and holds up to abuse. So if you're after something very unique that'll last a good while, this is a good choice. A+ would buy in another colour.
